Luigi Menduti obtained his PhD under the supervision of Prof. Emanuela Licandro and Prof. Dr. Matthias Wagner within a cotutelle programme. His project focused on the synthesis of boron-doped thiahelicenes and was carried out partly at the University of Milan and partly at Goethe University Frankfurt.

His expertise includes the synthesis and characterization of heterocyclic and organometallic molecules, as well as the handling, preparation, and purification of pyrophoric and air- and moisture-sensitive compounds.

In 2023, he joined the group of Prof. Luisa De Cola as a postdoctoral researcher. His current research interests focus on the synthesis and characterization of organic and organometallic emitters, nanomaterials, and hydrogels for applications in biomedical fields (diagnostics, drug-delivery).
